In a unanimous vote, the Minnesota AFL-CIO General Board today approved a resolution opposing the November 2012 constitutional amendment banning marriage equality.
The resolution puts the state’s largest labor federation, made up of more than 1,000 affiliated local unions representing more than 300,000 working people, squarely against enshrining discrimination in the state’s constitution.
"The labor movement is, and has always been about protecting and advancing the rights of all people," said Minnesota AFL-CIO President Shar Knutson. “We will not stand by and allow discrimination to become part of Minnesota’s constitution."
